The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences (CLAS), Office of the Dean, has a Director, Grant Support Office position available. This person will provide supervision of fiscal and administrative support staff in proposal preparation, budgeting, negotiations, and administration of grant and contract awards. Key Duties Include: Evaluate budgets for grant, contract, and sub-award proposals, renewals, and periodic reports in accordance with federal, UI, and private foundations policies/deadlines.Independently and proactively forecast and manage accounts; provide independent post-award financial management of grants and contracts, including ongoing training of actual and projected expenditures.Draft, review and negotiate grant proposals, pre-proposals and letters of support. Manage a high volume and unique/complex caseload.Assist faculty, staff and students with funding proposals.Assure compliance with contract/ grant terms in accordance with University policies and state and federal regulations.Develop and implement strategic plans to meet grant-related goals of the College.Consult with faculty to discuss, evaluate and plan for current and future needs, and research funding opportunities. Establish new user accounts and train faculty and research staff on electronic grant submission systems and financial reports. Provide feedback and direction to faculty and research staff based on grant regulations or budgets to ensure compliance and desirable outcomes.Develop and implement policies and practices of a culture that supports staff engagement in the workplace.Assume responsibility for staff development utilizing advanced management techniques, and through goal setting exercises, training and development programs, group and individual meetings to develop accountability, effectiveness, and employee satisfaction.
